Japan’s SMFG names new deputy presidents and executive officers
Kanamaru and Koike were both senior managing corporate executive officers.
Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG) has appointed Muneo Kanamaru and Masamichi Koike as deputy presidents and executive officers, effective 1 April.
Tetsuro Imaeda, who currently serves the role, will retire from SMFG.
Prior to their new role, Kanamaru and Koike were senior managing corporate executive officers.
Teiko Kudo has also been appointed as SMFG’s director deputy president and executive officer. Kudo was previously director senior managing corporate executive officer in SMFG.
Kanamaru first joined Sumitomo Bank in April 1987, and became a managing executive officer in the bank in 2017. He retired from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) In April 2018 before returning as a managing executive officer for SMFG in 2020.
Kanamaru holds 30,272 shares of common stock in SMFG.
Koike, meanwhile, began working at the Taiyo Kobe Bank in 1987. He became a managing executive officer of SMFG in 2018 and has been a senior managing corporate executive officer of SMFG since 2020.
Koike holds 35,260 shares of common stock in SMFG.
