Taswin Zakaria named president director of Bank Internasional Indonesia
Chosen for his deep knowledge of Indonesia’s business environment.
Taswin, 45, served as an independent member of the Board of Commissioners of BII since 2004. He is also an independent member of the Board of Commissioners of PT Jasa Angkasa Semesta Tbk (a subsidiary of SATS Singapore), a post he has held since 2005.
Prior to this appointment, Taswin was the president director of PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance between 2010 and 2011. Taswin was Barclays Bank Plc director for Indonesia and was Barclays’ head of Asia for alternate capital market/Islamic finance.
BII is 97% owned by Malaysia’s Maybank Group and is one of the largest Indonesian banks by assets.
Maybank chairman Tan Sri Megat Zaharuddin Megat Mohd Nor said Taswin was selected because of his deep knowledge of the Indonesian business environment; extensive cross-geographical financial institution experience and deep knowledge of BII operations for the last nine years.
