Standard Chartered appoints Peter Burnett as regional head of corporate finance for North East Asia
He will report to Mark Dowie, group head of corporate finance.
According to a release, Standard Chartered has appointed Peter Burnett as its Regional Head of Corporate Finance for North East Asia (NEA) with effect from 8 April 2013. In this newly created role, Peter will be responsible for the growth and direction of the Bank’s NEA Corporate Finance business. This includes project and export finance, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) advisory, structured trade finance, financing solutions and equity capital markets (ECM) amongst other market-leading solutions.
Peter will be based in Hong Kong and report to Mark Dowie, Group Head of Corporate Finance. Peter will also work closely with Gene Kim, Regional Head, Global Markets, NEA, to ensure geographic and regulatory alignment.
The highly respected 16-year Asia veteran joins Standard Chartered from UBS where he was Chairman of Global Capital Markets for Asia. He has held many other senior positions in his impressive 24-year career with UBS, including Head of Equity Capital Markets for Asia and Chief Executive Officer of the bank’s Middle East Investment Banking business. This appointment reunites Peter with Mark Dowie who were both previously Co-Heads of the firm’s Investment Banking business in Asia from 2000 to 2004.
