Standard Chartered Bank has appointed Yang-Sheng Wong.
Standard Chartered Bank has appointed Yang-Sheng Wong as head of human resources (HR) in Singapore.
Reporting to Peter Hatt, Head of HR, Asia, and Patrick Lee, Cluster CEO of Singapore & ASEAN Markets, Wong will also join the bank's Singapore country management team.
The appointment is effective from 1 July and Wong will have additional responsibilities for Australia and Brunei.
Wong in his role as head of HR, Singapore, will be in charge of implementing the bank's talent and people development strategy.
With approximately 9,000 employees in Singapore, the focus will be on attracting and cultivating a skilled workforce capable of driving digitalization, and innovation, and ensuring the resilience of the banking industry.
Additionally, Wong will prioritise enhancing the overall employee experience to align with the evolving needs of the future workforce.
Wong has had experience as an HR professional, particularly in consulting. He began his career at Deloitte Consulting in the US, advising Fortune 500 companies on various human capital matters such as organisational development, talent management, change management, process redesign, and technology implementation.
Afterwards, Wong worked at DBS Bank in Singapore before joining Standard Chartered in 2017. In his previous role, he served as the bank's global head of organizational design before taking on his current appointment.
