Miller names head of non-marine broking for Japanese arm

Tokinori Kono joins from I&T Risk Solutions.

Reinsurance broker Miller has named Tokinori Kono as head of Non-Marine Broking for its Japanese business, Lead Insurance Services Limited.

Kono has 7 years of experience. Most recently, he was general manager at I&T Risk Solutions, now Comos Risk Solutions.

Kono began his career at Tokio Marine. He also reportedly has experience in setting up an international trade business that monitored and managed risk, said Miller in a press release.

Miller acquired lead in 2022, following a 25-year relationship between the two businesses. Founded in 1994, Lead is a marine-focused broker that specializes in Hull, War Risks, and Protection & Indemnity Insurance.

Japan’s insurance sector is said to have a positive outlook for 2024 and 2025, according to analysts. Notably, property & casulaty (P&C) insurers are expected to boost profits through premium hikes in fire insurance beginning October 2024 followed by hikes in auto insurance in 2025, according to a report by Jefferies.
