Igloo brings new addition to Thailand operations

John Chen will oversee strategic partnerships and collaborations in Thailand.

Insurtech Igloo appointed John Chen as the Country Manager for Igloo Thailand. In his new role, Chen will lead Igloo's growth and operations in the Thai market. He will focus on establishing strategic partnerships and expanding the range of insurance products available to Thai consumers. 

Regarding his new role, Chen expressed his priorities, saying, "We aim for Igloo to become Southeast Asia's leading insurtech, and Thailand, with its estimated $32b insurance market, plays a crucial role in achieving that goal,” 

“We've seen substantial government support for expanding the insurance market, especially in promoting technology-driven initiatives. We believe partnerships with major consumer-facing platforms will be instrumental in achieving our insurtech objectives." he added.

Chen brings over 15 years of experience in emerging and developed global markets, with a background in e-commerce and fintech, including co-founding a neobank.

He also oversees Igloo's strategic partnerships, including the recent collaboration with Capital A's AirAsia Ride.

In Thailand, Igloo has already partnered with AIS Insurance Service for Mobile 360 insurance and Phone Screen Protection plans. They have also collaborated with Thai Paiboon Insurance for Personal Cyber Insurance. During the height of the pandemic, Igloo insured 45,000 foodpanda riders in one of its most significant partnerships to date. In 2022, the company secured a $46m Series B round of funding to support its regional expansion efforts.
