Life Insurance Association of Japan lays out plans for 2022

It plans to focus on three initiatives to meet customer expectations.

The Life Insurance Association of Japan (LIAJ) has announced that it will focus on three initiatives to meet customer expectations this year.

In his New Year’s message, Yukinori Takada, chairperson of LIAJ enumerated the three initiatives they have for this year: fulfilling the role of the life insurance industry in a new era; contributing to a healthy and prosperous life; and building more infrastructure for sound business development.

Takada said that LIAJ will continue to focus on the COVID-19 pandemic situation this year and take necessary measures as appropriate and support further initiatives by member companies.

Additionally, LIAJ will also produce an easy-to-understand animated film for insurance education to help encourage more people to take an interest in insurance. The video is set to premiere on Youtube and other platforms in February.

In March, LIAJ plans to organise an online symposium on Sustainable Development Goals to deepen the understanding of how to respond to longer healthy life expectancy and to address the urgent issue of climate change with the help and insights from experts, as well as to communicate the initiatives undertaken by the life insurance industry to a wider audience.

“Finally, I would like to mention that 2022 is the year of the tiger in the Oriental Zodiac. The Chinese character signifying 'tiger' etymologically means to sit up straight and behave oneself. According to another theory, it represents the coming of spring and its vegetation. I would like to conclude my New Year’s message with the hope of overcoming the long cold winter of the pandemic together, ringing in the New Year with the feeling of the coming spring flourishing in our midst, as we continue to fully prepare for what lies ahead,” Takada said.
