Chinese insurers' gross premium income jumps 11.6% to $155b
Life insurers' premium income rose 13.5%.
China’s insurance industry posted a 11.6% YoY jump in gross premium income to $155b (CNY1.01t) in January, according to data from the Chinese Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC).
Life insurers’ gross premium income rose 13.5% to $131b (CNY851.5b), accounting for 87% of total premiums.
On the other hand, property insurers recorded a meager 0.13% increase in generated premiums to $24.3b (CNY157.9b).
