UOB assembles panel for sustainability advising
Industry experts were handpicked to lead the panel.
UOB has established a Sustainability Advisory Panel, comprised of sustainability and industry experts. This panel will provide independent guidance to the bank's board and management regarding its sustainability strategy, goals, and initiatives.
Additionally, the panel will support the board and management in overseeing the bank's efforts to achieve sustainability and net-zero objectives.
To align with the Bank's sustainability strategy and regional focus, UOB has appointed three members to its inaugural Sustainability Advisory Panel.
Their one-year term begins on 1 October. The appointed members are as follows:
- Neo Gim Huay, managing director, centre for nature and climate at the world economic forum.
- Yoon Young Kim (Yoon Kim), cluster president for Singapore, Malaysia, and Brunei at Schneider Electric.
- Mark Gainsborough, chairman of Seatrium.

These individuals bring expertise in climate science, sustainability in Southeast Asia, and the broader industrial economy, with a particular focus on energy transition.
These areas of expertise align with the bank's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions and promoting a just transition that balances socioeconomic development with decarbonisation in the region.
The Sustainability Advisory Panel will collaborate closely with UOB's Corporate Sustainability Office. Their advisory role will encompass various aspects, including:
- Providing insights on sustainability and industry trends relevant to both the Bank and the region.
- Offering guidance on UOB's sustainability strategy, objectives, and initiatives.
- Assisting in the management of environmental, social, and governance-related risks and opportunities.
