UOB and KrisFlyer launch credit card and savings account to target frequent fliers
The card can be combined with a savings account to earn miles.
United Overseas Bank Limited (UOB) and Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer have rolled out what they claim to be Singapore’s first credit card that can be combined with a savings account to earn bonus KrisFlyer miles on customer spend and savings.
The KrisFlyer UOB Credit Card enables cardmembers to earn three KrisFlyer miles on everyday spend such as dining and online food delivery, online shopping and public transport. Cardholders can also earn three KrisFlyer miles for every dollar spent on the SIA Group of carriers and KrisShop purchases.
Customers who choose to link their credit card with the KrisFlyer UOB Savings Account can unlock a new base earn rate of five KrisFlyer miles for every dollar saved with a minimum monthly average balance of $737 (S$1,000), up to their spending cap. If they credit their monthly salary to the account (minimum of S$2,000), the earn rate increases to six KrisFlyer miles per dollar spent, up to their spending cap.
Cardholders can also unlock exclusive suite of privileges and benefits when flying on Singapore Airlines, SilkAir and Scoot including fast track to KrisFlyer Elite Silver status with a minimum of $3,685 (S$5,000) spend on the SIA Group of airlines, and various Scoot travel benefits, such as priority check-in and boarding, additional baggage allowance, convenience fee waiver, seat selection and booking flexibility waiver.
As part of a regional launch, UOB and KrisFlyer are also planning a regional marketing campaign in May 2019 in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. The campaign will see an additional four million KrisFlyer miles made available for UOB cardmembers in the region.
